It’s a sad fact of life that some people in this world are simply superior—the Pope, mother Teresa, and, of course, Karl Lagerfeld. The fashion icon is so superior in fact, that it seems scientists are clamoring to test his genes to unlock the secrets to his staggering success and eternal youth.

In all seriousness, he is pretty incredible—at 82 years old, the man oversees three major fashion labels, Chanel, Fendi, and his eponymous brand, designs seven collections a year, and often jumps behind the camera to shoot his own campaigns. Pepper in other projects like art exhibits, inspiring Barbie dolls and books, and dedicated cat maintenance, so it’s not totally out of the realm to wonder what he’s been drinking.

“I was asked by somebody to do [test my DNA]. Because they think I’m not normal,” Lagerfeld told the November issue of British Vogue. “But I flatly refused. Unique pieces are unique pieces. But I think very flattering, huh? And also I was asked for skincare for men because they think I am remade. But I am not remade. I am all fake but not remade.”

In the interview, Karl also admitted that retirement is a foreign word—he’s locked into infinite contracts with Fendi and Chanel—and doesn’t plan on scaling back.  “I think I’m pretty lucky that I can do what I like best in perfect conditions. I don’t have to fight with anybody. You know my contracts with Fendi and Chanel are for life? And I don’t feel tired at all. I hate slow people. Horrible.”
