The American edition of Allure has been doing more than alright lately, having served up some fabulous covers with the likes of Taraji P. Henson and Salma Hayek, winning over our forum members. Allure unveiled its November 2015 installment just before the weekend featuring Kate Hudson. Photographed by Tom Munro, Kate delivers an energetic cover shot to accompany the theme of the magazine’s Happiness Issue.
But were our forum members happy with the outcome? “Happiness Issue? Really? Well it doesn’t look happy enough,” announced a disapproving jeffandtheworld within seconds of the cover coming to light.
“‘Happiness Issue’ with Kate Hudson looking like death warmed over. And what’s with the Americans and all their cheerfulness? Lol. These cover lines make me want to go out and blow Mary Poppins’ head off,” shared Benn98.
Also unimpressed with Allure‘s efforts was tigerrouge: “That cover shot would be fine if they were selling us ‘the new neutrals’ or ‘Kate Hudson bare’ but not this nonsense about a happiness issue. If that’s the case, you need to hire one of those people who can smile for a living. Did they not have Julia Roberts a month ago? Her smile goes on for days.”
Forum member burbuja8910 wasn’t feeling it either, echoing, “She looks so weird on the cover trying to make a smile.”
“What a messy cover. Kate doesn’t look good here,” agreed narcyza.
“Really?” asked a surprised Sweet rus. “I personally get these happy vibes off of Kate. She looks very pretty and positively glowing, too Photoshopped though.”
Are you a fan? Wait and see if there’s a more convincing shot from Kate’s cover story and join the conversation here.
