When we say we want skin as smooth as a baby’s bottom, we mean it. But, how far are you actually willing to go? Beauty companies are now making anti-aging products that are literally inspired by certain fluids found in the delivery room – yikes.

Hourglass Cosmetics, known for some of the best liners in the business, created an Equilibrium Biomimetic Skin Active Serum a year ago that uses a plant-based lipid that is found in high concentrations in amniotic fluid. Why would this be helpful in anti-aging you may ask? This lipid actually helps to normalize skin cell growth – basically, it helps to ensure your skin is counteracting any signs of aging and instead producing healthy-looking skin from within.

Bilogique Recherche also uses a mix of fatty emollients in it’s formula for Creme Masque Vernix, which simulates vernix, that waxy coating that is found on a newborn. The mask helps to recharge and protect stressed skin over time. These products come at a steep price of course, ranging from $100 – $350.

But, this all bodes the question: If we’re getting it so right when we come out of the womb, when will scientists really figure out how to turn back the clock for us?
