Why Princess Mary Should Be Your New Royal Style Crush

Sorry Kate Middleton, there’s a new royal in town whose style we admire, Princess Mary of Denmark.

According to a new poll of the best royal style by Hello that included 10 royals, Denmark’s princess took out the top spot with nearly 30 percent of votes. The 43-year-old also scooped the (unofficial) crown last year, but despite her coveted wardrobe, most of you might still be relatively unfamiliar with the Danish royal, and what makes her so stylish.

Like Kate, Mary is known for her high-low outfits and can flawlessly swap between a $50 dress and crown jewels. She’s big on supporting Danish designers, and has been spotted in affordable label Edith and Ella, and—in case you needed further proof that she’s a fashion girl to her core—even picked a jumpsuit by Ole Yde over the expected ballgown for an official event in May.

She was also a familiar face at Copenhagen Fashion Week last month, presenting awards and sitting front row during several shows.

Despite her affinity for Danish labels, Mary’s actually an Australian. The enchanting story of how she went from a regular city girl to the Princess of Denmark is a real life fairytale: While working as an accountant in Australia, Mary met the Prince at a pub while he was visiting Sydney for the 2000 Olympics. The pair were engaged in 2003, and the rest is history.

Ahead, we’ve rounded up 14 of Princess Mary’s best looks!
